aQuery's mission is to be the path to information. aQuery is a company poised to revolutionize the way that we retrieve information from the Web, and elsewhere.
aQuery was founded in 1999, with a first round of financing from a top-tier venture capital firm, Accel Partners (http://www.accel.com). Since before the company was even officially founded, aQuery has enjoyed the vision and active participation of Mr. Mitchell Kapor, the founder and former CEO of Lotus Development Corporation. Mr. Kapor serves as aQuery's Chairman of the Board.
Co-founders Timothy Chklovski and Anatoli Chklovski bring strong technology backgrounds to aQuery's team. Their areas of expertise include knowledge representation and knowledge extraction, using statistical and linguistic methods. Timothy Chklovski comes to aQuery from doing research at the MIT Media Laboratory under the supervision of Marvin Minsky, the founder of the MIT Artificial Intelligence Laboratory.
aQuery is located 10 minutes from MIT and has assembled an extremely talented technical team from MIT and other top schools around the nation. Together, we are delivering products that allow individuals and organizations to get at the information they want, when they want it, presented in a way that is easy to understand and navigate. The amount of information available in this day and age is so enormous that trying to find complete answers to questions is a time consuming and frustrating task.
Current search engines provide too many results, which often are of a very mixed quality; this requires you to spend much time searching through the references looking for your answers.
Human-edited directories provide links to more relevant sites, but human editing cannot provide the depth and level of detail of automated approaches. Further detracting from usefulness of directories, old links become stale and new, better resources appear on the Web all of the time. Just consider that the Web already has more than a billion pages and is expected to double in size within the next two years!
aQuery has developed unique, patent-pending technology and a suite of products to better understand both what you, the user, are looking for, and what each source has to offer. In this way aQuery insures that you get the information that you want more quickly and more reliably than ever before.
The name QuortalsTM comes from "Query Portals." A Quortal is an organized, structured report on a topic that includes links to the most relevant sites, brief, readable excerpts to help the user understand what sites are about, as well as introductory and FAQ information on the topic. (Several thousand examples of Quortals are available on our site, http://demo.aquery.com.)
aQuery can automatically produce hundreds of thousands of Quortals in particular areas (Health, Electronics, Biomedicine, etc., etc.) The Quortals present the information available on the Web and elsewhere in a comprehensive, readable, and engaging fashion. Quortals are a must for any user interested in finding out more about a particular topic - from an expert to a beginner in the given field.
Do you have the problem of needing to access unstructured data? If you would like an efficient and low-cost solution that can keep up with your large, growing, or rapidly changing collection of documents, aQuery has a product for you.
Our knowledge management product offers integrated search and navigation.
The basic structure can be imported from an existing tree, or created (automatically) from scratch. Our solutions provide unprecedented relevancy of search and ease of navigation. Because the indexing and structuring are fully automatic (but allow fine-tuning by humans), high-quality results are obtained at a low cost.

For any piece of content (a Web document, an email, etc.) aQuery's advanced technology is capable of identifying the most relevant products from an e-commerce catalog. This allows us to provide remarkably targeted advertising and higher click-through rates to our e-commerce partners. If you would like to learn more and become a partner, please inquire at bizdev@aquery.com.
Also, our technology for creating QuortalsTM (see above) allows us to create comprehensive, high-quality sites on the broadest to the narrowest topics of interest to the users. If you have a significant amount of content on topics of interest to Web users and would like to drive traffic to your site, please inquire at bizdev@aquery.com.
aQuery's search and understanding technology can locate the piece of information on your site most relevant to the user's request, maximizing the frequency of click-throughs to your site and presenting your site in the best, highest-relevancy fashion.

How does aQuery provide unparalleled relevancy and speed in locating relevant information?
At the core of aQuery's results is proprietary, patent-pending context-aware technology, that we call the Meaning Engine. The Meaning Engine looks through millions of documents to understand which terms and phrases make up an appropriate context for a given query. In other words, our large knowledge base knows that documents about an ankle joint or the Zone Diet also contain words, phrases and expressions such as sprain or Dr. Barry Sears. Armed with this information, we are able to retrieve extremely relevant documents for these queries.
This same technology - looking at the contexts of things - allows us to do something a typical search engine cannot do. It allows us to understand when documents cover the topic from a similar point of view or are about different aspects of the topic. Based on this, we are able to structure and categorize information on the Web and beyond with exceptional precision.
Finally, the Meaning Engine can also identify the most relevant information within a document, pinpointing the part that is most relevant to the topic of interest, or it can list a document's key concepts and build a summary of the document that covers its most salient topics.
To see these technologies in action, please visit our site, http://demo.aquery.com. If you are interested in working with aQuery or would like to learn more about the technology, please let us know the nature of your interest and contact us at info@aquery.com.
